How can I connect my iMac to my HDTV?

Why isn't my mini-dvi fitting into my imac?

  • I've been trying to connect my imac to my Samsung 32" HDTV. First I bought the mini-DVI to VGA adapter. I then tried and tried to fit the mini-dvi into the back of my mac. I pushed and twisted. It wouldn't fit. I tried not to damage anything so I backed off. Researched and found out maybe I needed a mini-display port. I then bought the mini-display to vga and this time it was way off. Way to small. What is it I need? I took a picture of the port on the back of my mac. What's my problem here? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/SumbodysNobody/IMG_0627.jpg

  • Answer:

From what I gather, you are attempting to connect your Mac to your Samsung HDTV. Since you have an HDTV and would probably want the highest quality, don't use VGA but instead HDMI (assuming your TV has an HDMI port). There exists such an adapter that has mini-DVI-to-HDMI. I don't know why Apple never thought of sticking an HDMI port on to there Macbooks.
