  • PLEASE HELP ME. I'm desperate. Long story short. I have a broken backlight on this laptop. [Dell inspiron 1521] so I hooked up an old Dell flat screen monitor [i have no clue which type[ and ti was working FINE. FOOLISH me unplugged the cord that connects to my laptop and monitor and now the monitor DOESNT WORK. i tried my other monitor and it DID WORK but it was BIG so i tried putting the other one in and it STILL DIDNT WORK. then i messed with the settings on my display settings and now ffs ONLY ONE MONITOR SHOWS UP on my display settings! NO number 2!!!!!!! please help me. i'm really upset and NOT AN IDIOT just mad. i can barely see ANYTHING on this laptop and i NEED this other monitor. what do i do?!?!?!?

  • Answer:

1.) Hi =) 2.)Does the flat screen monitor work on any other machine besides the laptop you're using? If so, then turn off your laptop, unplug the power cord and take off the battery, and let it sit for a minute, then restart it. This restarts the motherboard's info and it SHOULD read the monitor as a plug and play monitor again. 3.)Do you want a dual monitor set-up? then you'll need two monitors.
