What are laptop symptoms to detect pc problems?

HELP!!! The "BLUE SCREEN" IS CONSTANTLY CRASHING MY PC!!!?

  • 11 DAYS AGO, my trusty, 11 month old HP LAPTOP (DV6830, Vista Premium w/SP1), SUDDENLY BEGAN REPEATEDLY CRASHING!!! . . . I started out by eliminating EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE PROBLEM... I also restored, eliminated ALL but a few essential START UP PROGRAMS, & Browser add-ons... My memory tests are clean > > > NOTHING IS WRONG... BUT I KEEP CRASHING--- EVEN WHEN EVERYTHING IS IDLE... I have also spent HOURS on the phone with HP... They claim MY ONLY OPTION IS TO RESTORE TO FACTORY (& spend months recreating my settings, & etc) > > > I HATE THAT--- ESPECIALLY since I LOST my recovery & back up discs > > > AND MY PC WON'T LET ME MAKE NEW ONES SINCE THIS STARTED... I bought a 320 GB Western Digital External Hard Drive Online yesterday... I am JUST PRAYING it will remove ALL DATA from my pc... I am TERRIFIED... Its bad enough that noone can find a cause > > > ITS HORRIFYING THAT I CANNOT EVEN CREATE BACK-UP DISCS... NOW, I JUST WANT TO BE SURE I CAN REMOVE ALL OF MY DATA--- & GET RID OF IT... So many features WILL NOT WORK in a way that makes NO SENSE!!! i.e., "Problem Reports"... ALL of my data was deleted & it no longer reports or works... DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS ABOUT HOW TO STABILIZE THIS PC LONG ENOUGH TO SUCCESSFULLY REMOVE ALL THE DATA??? I am REALLY worried I may lose it all . . . ALSO--- IS THERE ANY SPECIAL PROGRAM OR TECHNIQUE I MAY TRY --- RATHER THAN a manufacturer restore... Given how BIZARRE the symptoms are (NO MEMORY PROBLEMS), NOONE SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND ANYTHING... > > > I ALSO HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO VIRUS OR INFECTION ISSUE... nothing adds up... ANY GENIUSES OUT THERE???

  • Answer:

Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

Have you tested your drive? To test a hard drive, you have to get the bootable ISO file on a manufacturer's website, SeaTools for Seagate, Western Digital Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for DOS (CD). Ask for futher help if needed, or if you have a different brand, but tell us what brand it is. For WD, run EXTENDED TEST. http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=701&sid=30&lang=en If Seagate, run LONG TEST http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/ __ EDIT1: Next time, please, do write without CAPS LOCK ON. It is annoying to read. __ EDIT2: Do you have access to another Vista disc? If you have, try if it survives that long sfc /scannow as described here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 It might also help, if you could rewrite all the messages you receive on the blue screen (I know it is long, sorry). BTW, I cannot email you, your email is disabled.
