How do I import pictures from my phone?

Why does the resolution of pictures decrease when I import to my laptop from the Samsung Galaxy Prevail phone?

• The phone takes really nice pictures, but when I connect the phone with the USB cord and import the pics to the laptop, the pictures are grainy and crappy, and when held side by side to the phone, you can see the drastic drop in resolution. Is there any way I can import the pictures so they are the same quality that they are when they are on the phone? This is craziness!

• Answer:

  Right click the imported picture on your PC and choose Properties. See what the reported resolution is under the Detail tab. If it's getting the full 2 megapixel image, you should see something on the order of 1300 x 830. If you're comparing the picture on the phone to the same picture on a much larger monitor screen, you may simply be seeing the detail that the small screen on the phone simply omits. Try zooming out in your photo editor until the picture is in window physically the size of your phone screen and see how that compares.
