How can you use a vga svga monitor extension cable for under 17" tv to a bvigger tv?

my uncle claims u can still put it on our tv (52") but when plug it into the tv and press input it saays mode not supported 10 points for best answer!!!!!

If it's a cable with a blue end on it, then you need to turn the resolution down as the blue VGA cable can't carry high resolutions. You would need the white ended cable (DVI) or an HDMI cable for that. turn the resolution down to 1024-768 (or the wide screen equivalent of) and see if it works, then turn the resolution up one step at a time.
