Connect a desktop tower to a laptop?

Hi everyone! I am having a problem, the monitor for my desktop computer is after breaking and at the moment cant afford to buy another one. Does anyone know if I can connect my desktop tower to my laptop monitor and if it can be done would it damage either my laptop or desktop tower? Thanks to anyone who can help!

Most laptops are video out only, so probably not.
No, usually the SVGA connector for a laptop is for output only, not input. Your best bet would be to buy a used CRT. (a non-flat panel) Try ITXchange.com That would be the cheapest. Personally, I would avoid a CRT at all costs. Check craigslist too for used monitors.
