CAN I USE MY TV AS A COMPUTER MONITOR?

Can you use a tv as a computer monitor?

  • i got a rebuilt computer from my friend along with a new 23" HD TV to use as the monitor. I have the VGA cable (or whatever its called) that is blue and hooks up in the back of the computer and the monitor but now the tv keeps saying no signal. it has an input to use for computers but that doesn't work. is there another cable i need or something? my friend said she gave me all the stuff i needed for it but i can't figure out why it is not working. the tv is brand new...any help would be appreciated.

If you right click on you desktop and go to properties you can extend your desktop on to the tv but you will need to mess around with the pixel count. This is assuming you have a powerful enough graphics card. Im using my 50' plasma as a computer screen right now!

It seems you have all the stuff needed (computer, cable and tv) without a picture this could be hard to answer, but here goes. 1. Make sure the TV is set to output the PC connection (VGA) and that the cable is secured. 2. Then check for possible connections on your computer (as in see if there is more than one spot to connect it. Hint: There is more than one type of output for computers (DVI or VGA) so look for both. You can look up pictures of both on the internet. 3. If there is more than one try them all, if that doesn't work the resolution may be misconfigured or there could be a problem with hardware (video card.)
