How to fix Out Of Range on my monitor?

Installed Video Card, but the Monitor is Out Range. How can i fix this?

  • Hiya! ^.^ I am having trouble using the Radeon HD 4650 graphics card. Just to let you know, the operating system I am using is Windows Vista, and my VGA monitor is a LG Flatron L192WS. I recently installed this graphics card into my PCIE port, and it installed successfully. Yet, when I booted up my computer the resolution was changed to the default setting for my VGA monitor, 640 x 480. Then i tried to increase the resolution to my normal 1440 x 900 setting, which is usually at the high end of the resolution bar. What ended up happening is that I dragged the resolution bar way beyond the 1440 x 900 setting by accident. Then my computer VGA monitor went blank and a message popped up saying that the VGA monitor resolution was out of range. I uninstalled the video card, hoping that it would go back to the default mode, but when I reinstalled it said that it was still out of range. Currently, I have the Radeon HD 4650 uninstalled in my PC. How can I get the resolution back to 1440 x 900 when I cannot see the screen? How can I get it back to its default settings?

  • Answer:

Wait, what? Windows should have just dropped back to your old resolution after fifteen seconds; a user must hit yes to confirm any new video mode (at least in 95-XP). But, I guess you can just boot into safe mode. That will default to 640x480x16 with generic drivers, and you can then go back and set the slider to native panel resolution. Make sure your video board is installed when you try this. .
