Help connecting Xbox 360 to LCD Monitor?

How do I hook up my Xbox 360 to my Computer monitor? Need help from a technical guy?

  • Before you say xbox VGA cable know that my PC monitor has an HDMI port. The problem is, I connect the HDMI cable from xbox to monitor and as I should have seen it coming, there is no audio from the monitor. What I want to do is connect my xbox to my monitor and have my sound connected from the xbox to my speakers. But I dont know if this is possible considering HDMI has all three composite cords in itself already. And if it is possible, how can I do this? My monitor only has two inputs: VGA and HDMI, and no outputs. So going through the monitor to the speakers wouldnt work. I have noticed that the xbox has lots of outputs in the back besides the HDMI and composite, 3 USBs, and AUX output. So I also am wondering if there is another cord I should get, such as an AUX cord, to connect from my xbox to my speakers. My speakers has every input possible but I don't know how to get it from the xbox. Another thing that I might have thought was connecting usb from xbox to usb in speakers but I don't know if that would work. If you have any idea what I said please help me out but only if you understand. I'm sorry I am not a very good technical writer. If all else fails I guess I will just have to get an xbox vga cable :(

VGA wires from Microsoft and MadCatz for the Xbox 360 are readily available at retail and online for around $30. When connected via VGA, the Xbox 360 has wider array of resolution options than when it is connected with Component wires. The resolutions are selectable though the Xbox 360's dashboard, and include: 640x480 848x480 1024x768 1280x720 1280x768 1280x1024 1360x768 When choosing an LCD monitor for Xbox 360 gaming, it's important to check that the LCD has one of these resolutions as either a native or supported resolution. Most modern LCDs in the 20'' range will have native resolutions higher than 1360x768, but that doesn't necessarily solve the problem. Trying to send a non-supported resolution into most LCDs will lead to a muggy, badly scaled, and possibly out-of-frame-image. In our test case, our BenQ FP202W 20'' widescreen 8ms LCD has a native resolution of 1680x1050, but looks best when the 360 is set to 1280x1024 widescreen. Other resolutions could not be scaled properly and looked pretty bad.
