Can you connect a PS3 to a Computer Monitor?

I've been playing my PS3 on my old CRT TV for too long. As the holiday season is coming along, I'd thought I would purchase a new HD TV. However, while doing some research, I learned that I can play my PS3 on a computer monito and save some money. Is this true? If so, how would I go about accomplishing this? I know I need a DVI-HDMI adapter. Any help/clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can, the monitor needs to have a HDMI import though.
