Is a bad monitor caused by electronic interference?

Why is my monitor for my xbox picking up interference from my computer?

  • I have a 24'' acer computer monitor that I hook up to my xbox 360 with a vga cable. Currently, I have my computer hooked up to a seperate monitor. When my computer is on, even though it is not hooked up to my xbox 360 monitor in any way, it gives the monitor a sort of snowy/fuzzy, but more of a snowy display. Whenever my computer is off, the snowy effect disappears. What causes the interference? How can I fix it? Is it even possible to? I need my computer on at the same time as my xbox if I want to record my gameplay. Thanks for any help.

  • Answer:

Most motors will cause interference with some monitors. Years ago we had a guy that was having problems but every time we check his monitor after hours it worked great. Finally after the third complaint we went up and decide to look around. The guy in the cubical behind him had an electric fan right behind the first guys monitor. We moved the fan and all worked fine.
