Why does my laptop keep freezing since i smashed the monitor?

• i have it hooked up to my desktops old crt and when i start it up it lets me login but then freezes a couple of seconds later. It only works in safe mode. if it helps answer the question i smashed the monitor with my fist (anger issues)
