My lcd monitor turns itself off?

My Dell LCD Monitor Turns White?!?

• After I turn on my computer, I do a little surf on the net and look at some pictures, suddenly the screen would turn white. It would stay like that for like 2 minutes or so. Then it'd go back to normal. It's has been turning white pretty frequently now. Does this mean I need a new monitor or is this just a virus? I have already done everything I can - tried dusting the monitor & the desktop - I also did symantec anitivirus/spybot clean up. Do you have any idea what I should do?

  To ger white on an lcd screen, each color (RGB) must emitting. Sounds like a computer graphics card problem. You mentioned the working desktop so I will assume you have one and not a laptop. If you have an old system, try swapping your monitor for say, an old CRT on a motherboard with integrated graphics. You will find that swapping components into and out of a working system is a good troubleshooting tool. But be careful about Graphics card/monitor swaps, Sometimes the bad component has damaged the good one on the system you have, and a swap will end you up with two malfunctioning systems instead of one. Recommendation: take it to the shop. One reason I always keep an out of date system that I can play mix-and-match to find the bad component.
