What are display drivers?

I just downloaded a trial of World of Warcraft and the game is choppy and the screen will just go black for about 30 seconds and then come back. I have received a error that says my display drivers have stopped working, but has recovered. What does that mean and what can I do?

Display drivers are a fancy word for your video card software. You can see what your video card is by right clicking on my computer and choosing properties - then click on the hardware tab and click Device Manager. Then there will be a + in a box next to Display Adapters. See what it says there and then you should be able to google search the manufacturer i.e. NVidia, ATI, Intel, etc. and find a new set of drivers that may/may not work for your game.

Ah, I have had this problem before, it was with my old ATI Radeon X1650 Card, well, drivers need to be updated consistently to play new games of a higher visual capability, display drivers are updates to your video card so you may have better quality to videos, games, etc; display drivers are made specifically for different video cards and manufacturers. I suggest you post your video card on here and I may be able to point you in the right direction for new drivers.
