Monitor stays black when computer is on?

This happens to any monitor I plug it into. All the plugs are plugged in properly and little lights on the back of the computer are 2 green ones and 2 orange, a and b being green and c and d being orange. Whats going on, how do I fix this?

I hate to be mean, but the monitor has a button on the front of it...
If it happens with multiple monitors, you may have a bad video card, or bad on-board video if the video is integrated into the motherboard. This assumes that it has worked in the past. If it has never worked, the video could be bad, or you could be plugging it into the wrong video socket, if there is more than one.
