How to get HD quality by connecting laptop to a TV screen?

  • I am in the process of buying a TV screen to connect my laptop to, to use as a monitor. Looking to use a 24/26 possibly 32 inch screen but am stuck on resolution. My laptop currently has 1366x768 res and I've connected it to various other screens and cannot manage to get perfect picture quality on the TV screen. Fair enough I use a VGA cable and will be using HDMI when I get the screen, however this shouldnt make too much of a difference as I'm looking for sound connectivity that the HDMI will bring. All I want is a perfect HD quality picture on the monitor and don't know how to go about searching for the correct resolution. Will a 1366x768 res screen be ok or 1900x1080? etc... Much appreciated on any help

    there is a very good chance if you connect your laptop to tv through a hd mi lead you will get 1920 x 1080 so get a tv that is full hd 1920 x 1080,,,,,,,,,,,the worst is you will have to run at 1366 x 768 laptops that have hd mi generally will support 1920 x 1080/1200 some even dual at that res easiest way is to check the manual

you can get 1900x1080?! 1920x1080< with hdmi, i would hope that you could get 720p AND 1080p also, 1366x768 is 720p edit: even if you connect it to a tv, the resolution would still be the same, except the screen would just be bigger and look blockier, since you are stretching it. if you want it to look better, get it up to 1080p or even 2560x1600 if you can
