Why does my monitor go blank occasionally?

Why does my monitor go blank?

  • Whenever i play a game on my computer, after a short while, maybe 3 to 5 minutes into it. my monitor goes blank, and the little green light goes to amber, and a message on screen says "video signal not being received". The only way to get the monitor to work again is to restart the computer. I have tried a different monitor and it happens to that one too. Also i have tried a different graphics card and that does the same too. I thought it might be some kind of refresh rate conflict with the monitor and the game but that isn't it either. im really stuck as to what it could be. pls help!

Check and see if you don't have a screen saver or the power manager turned on on the computer. It might turn the video off after 3 to 5 minutes. If it just does it in the game, then read the specs on the game and verify your system can handle it. You can also try the game on a different computer, and see if it does it on that one. This game, did you download it, or buy it? There could be a virus or something causing it to happen.

Try taking out the computers RAM, blowing out any dust, and then putting it back in again This is a classic sign of improperly seated RAM
