Why is my PC monitor so dark?

Why does my monitor and mouse not come on with my pc sometimes?

• I have a e-machine PC and LCD monitor, about 2 years old. For about a month now, the monitor doesn't turn on about half of the time when I turn the computer on. I also noticed that when this happens, the mouse light is not on either(which reminds me that sometimes when I turn the pc on and the monitor does come on, about 1/4 of the time the mouse doesn't power up-I have to unplug it and plug it back in (sometimes twice) a usb port which I know works fine..) Not sure if this is related, but it does look like it is somehow.. But back to the monitor-Also within the last week or so, on certain websites, and on all videos and pdf files I try and watch/read, the monitor flickers and a second image is seen which jumps to the corner of the screen-very annoying. All of the cables are secure..From what have looked up online, it sounds like my video card, but would that explain the mouse problem as well? Not really sure. I tried to investegate my video card settings/driver in the device manager, but I don't see a dedicated "video card" driver..just "video codecs", "video capture devices", and "media control devices" under the "sound, video, and game controllers" .When I troubleshoot these, I only get audio related questions. I was thinking about a restore, but that is only my last resort because it is a pain to reinstall all my programs.

  you have another option that is to put the OS disc in,restart, then hit the R key for repair. It will only repair the driver software and most likely fix anything corrupted (software wise that is) Try that first! Before restoring.
