External Monitor using VGA Port on Laptop?

  • Recently I ordered this monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009264 It was having a "Savings" so I thought it'd be nice to have a bigger monitor then my laptop's (a G50VT), so I ordered it. However, when I connected it to my computer all seemed dandy until my Dad noticed there was a horizontal flicker which moments after I noticed as well. At first I assumed this was the refresh rate which as 60Hz, but it's the same for my laptop's built-in screen as well. I'm wondering what to do, send it back and ask for a new one? It's fairly noticable against a black background but it isn't to the point where it's visible against a white background. It'd be free to ship a new one. I connected it to my laptop with the VGA Port on my computer. There hasn't been any issues with other external monitors. I used my sister's small TV for awhile with the same port and there wasn't any issue with that one either and it also had a 60Hz refresh rate.

  • Answer:
