I am not sure if this would help, but this a solution I found when I had a similar problem. You have the onboard graphics and the Video card installed on the system. So when you connect the monitor to the card, it shows no display. You should first connect the monitor to the VGA port on the back of the computer(the motherboard port) and then open up BIOS setting which can be accessed by pressing DEL or F2 on most of the pcs. But it depends on the hardware being used. You can lookup the BIOS access key on the internet for your hardware. On opening up the BIOS, you have to locate the DISPLAY option and then select the card as your display. If you are not that good with your comptuers, you can ask your friends for help. Tell him/her to change the display to the card in the BIOS setting.s I hope this helps. Happy computing

last time i had that problem the power supply in the pc was shot.

With the monitor working on another system fine, we can safely rule that out. With the cable working, we can rule that out too. The video card has been swapped and failed, so you are correct in that the video card can be ruled out as well. If you can try another monitor on this system, that may give us some clues as to what's going on. Does it happen as soon as you turn on the computer? Can you see the boot screen that says Compaq? Does it get into Windows or do you lose signal before then? If you lose signal before Windows, it is not a driver issue. In this case, it has to be the motherboard. Try the video card in a different slot, perhaps. If that doesn't work, the motherboard has to be the issue. It's the only other device that interacts with the video process.

Could be the motherboard. Try a new monitor, cable etc with the computer and check if it works or not.
