How do I keep my monitor from going to sleep?

  • I am running windows 7 and using one of the preinstalled screen savers. My screen saver will stay up for maybe 10 minutes and then my computer will automatically go to sleep mode. I have a baby shower coming up and I am loading a slide show to use as the screen saver during the party. I clicked: Control panel, Apperance and Personalization, Change Screen Saver, Photos (this is were my photo files are) From there I am lost as to what to do next. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

    Ok this is what you need to do. It turns out that your going to the wrong section in control panel. Control Panel > System and Security (Click on the title) > Under Power Options Menu, Choose "Change When The Computer Sleeps" Thats the path you need. :). there should be 2 columns. One for power options during battery use, and the other for power options during charging. its all pretty much straight forward. :).

Go to your Control Panel from the "Start" menu. In Control Panel, open up "Power Options." 2 Look at the preferred plans and you will see that the "Balanced" option is checked. This is the default setting. On the right side of the dialog box is a "Change Plan Settings" button. Click that button. 3 Change the time setting to "Never" in the "Put the computer to sleep" box. Click "OK," and it's done.

On my laptop, also windows 7, I have settings which allow me to. Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change when computer sleeps > Choose settings to your desire. Never would be suitable for your situation.

Press the start button. Search this- Sleep mode You should see an option that "Change when computer sleeps." Check never on both options if you are using a laptop, or just the one if not.
