Computer Monitor Help?

Computer monitor flashing colors on standby and I can't turn the monitor off. Help? Please.?

  • When my computer goes on standby mode. The computer is on standby. However the monitor's button is still green and it flashes colors and I can't turn it (the monitor) off. It only started doing this somepoint today in the afternoon. Before, my monitor worked fine on standby and I could turn it off. If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it. ;_; These flashing colours are hurting my eyes..~ Computer details: Runs on Windows XP Both the monitor and computer are 4 years old [soon to be 5 years old later this month] No viruses/spam

  • Answer:

The monitor can be turned on by the video card. If your computer is on standby, it isn't totally powered down. What it sounds like is, the video card is still running something (???) in standby, which is keeping your monitor on. Check your energy saving settings in control panel, display, screen saver... If everything looks good there, try updating your video card drivers. If that doesn't work, post here again to say what you've tried and if anything changed.
