How can I connect my ps3 to my computer monitor?

Can I connect my ps3 to my computer monitor this way?

  • Hi. I was wondering if i could connect my ps3 to my computor monitor. I only have a monitor, not a pc connected to it. My monitor does not have hdmi but it does have dvi and vga. Could I plug the ps3 in with the following cable to get video: http://www.amazon.com/DVI-HDMI-Cable-6ft-Male-Male/dp/B0002CZHN6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329208490&sr=8-2 Then, in order to get audio, could I use this cable: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-Stereo-Female-Y-Cable/dp/B0002J1LEI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top and the plug my computer speakers wi=hich are 3.5mm into it? Would I get sound? PLease help. Also, the monitor is 720p and I would like to get to play the ps3 on the monitor in 720p. THANK YOU
