How to get the best resolution for 19" HDTV when using it as a computer monitor?

Hello, I'm using a belkin HDMI cable to connect my 19" HDTV to my laptop(Acer aspire 5741 - Integrated intel HD graphics), the native resolution for the TV is said to be 1920x1080 but that looks totally wrong. The only resolution I have found to work is 1280x720 but some of the screen is cut off and the text is slightly blurred. How can I fix this to get the correct resolution?

try holding "windows key" then pressing "p" to projection only mode
