How can I connect a Presonus Firestudio Project to a Macbook Pro 2.66 Ghz? Firewire 400 to 800?
-
Alright right now I have a Macbook Pro 2.16 Ghz. I want to upgrade my mac to a 2.66 Ghz processor, but the new Macbook Pros with 2.66 Ghz processors only have Firewire 800 ports. I'm using it for home recording, so I have to be able to connect my Presonus Firestudio Project (firewire 400 cable) to it. Any help? I can't lose quality. It would defeat the purpose.

Answer:
I have the Firestudio Project and that's my main reason for not upgrading my laptop to one of the new MBP's. While I haven't tried this, there are adapters to go from Firewire 800 to 400. Try something like this: http://www.sonnettech.com/product/fw_adapter.html
