Built-in Webcam Not Detected?

Dell Inspiron 1521 - No webcam detected?

  • Hey guys, I have a Dell Inspiron 1521 and I've been having issues with the webcam. It is my boyfriends laptop, but he doesnt use it anymore. So I was trying to have a conversation on Skype, and it keeps telling me my webcam is not detected, and to make sure it is connected. The webcam is integrated, and I don't know what could of went wrong. I went on the Dell website in order to download the drivers, and it says it has been installed successfully, but yet there is no webcam detected. It's doing this for Skype and MSN. Any suggestions to what may help ? This is really bugging me. Thanks.

  • Answer:

Go in to Device Manager and check if it's installed or not. Start - Right Click on My Computer and Manage and see if you find Device Mnanager on left pane and look for Camera. If its installed right click on it and try to install or update drivers. I am pretty sure you will find it with yellow question mark in there.
