Why has my laptop screen confused black with red?

There's a vertical white line on my laptop screen, what's the problem?

  • There's a white dotted line (two dots wide and kinda in a zigzag formation... dunno how else to describe it) on my laptop screen towards the middle but a bit towards the right. It's a new laptop, about a month or two old. I'm only sixteen (just turned it today :o), and I dunno too much about what causes these kind of things. I searched the web, saw too many different answers and got confused... I'm pretty sure it's the LCD screen because it shows up on every screen including the loading screen. I would ask for my mother's help but she knows far less about laptops than I do (I don't even think she's ever owned one). The strange thing about this line is that it actually went away for a day (I booted it up in the morning and it wasn't there) and then when I booted it up this morning it was back. I've restarted it several times and there is no change, the line is always in the same spot. It's the display definitely since it's not there when I turn the laptop off. I would really like to know how I can fix it by myself, or whether or not it's even fixable. Any information about it will help, any information given is appreciated. I can follow any directions given.

  • Answer:

One of the contact point for your LCD is loose or surged. The only way is to send it for repair as they need to disassemble and reconnect the cables all again.
