How do I increase the FPS?

How do you increase FPS for gaming?

  • I'm currently running a MacBook Pro with the nVidia GeForce GT 330M GPU. The game currently runs at about 80 FPS, but I'd like to increase it to 90+.. however, online researching lead me to one solution; overclocking. I updated my GPU drivers to the most up-to-date driver, downloaded the control panel and followed all the steps according to guides online. At default, the GPU's speeds at as followed: 450/700/990.. of which, I customized to 650/900/1430. There are no issues loading up the profile, but there doesn't seem to be any change in FPS.. nor does the System Monitoring program provided by the nVidia Control Panel show any changes in the speeds.. they generally revolve around 405/324/810 respectively. (Core/Memory/Shader) Am I doing something wrong? Or am I missing a step in attempting to overclock my GPU to increase FPS for gaming??

  • Answer:

The easiest way to get more frames per second is to drop the screen resolution. May or may not be something you want to do. However, if the game is limited by the CPU, it won't go any faster no matter what you do, besides of course upgrading to a faster CPU.

1. 99% of Monitors can only show 60FPS in the first place, 80 is amazing with any game 2. It's probably that even though your GPU is OC'ed, your CPU is limiting you. Again, though, there's no point in overclocking it in the first place with >60 FPS
