How can you tell how old your laptop is?

How can I tell if my laptop is overheating?

  • Or something along those lines. Basically, three points. One, this laptop is specifically for gaming. Two, I play heavy-duty games like Mass Effect 2 for hours on end. Three, I am very, very paranoid. So how long before I should give the computer a break? How can I tell if I'm entering dangerous territory? How long should I let it cool off before I can play again? I have never owned a laptop before so I kind of sort of have no freaking clue what I'm doing. Also, I realize that every machine is different - it's an Asus G73SW, if that helps. Much obliged.

    With a laptop like that it comes with a temperature gauge in it. try going to the nvidia control panel to look up what the temperature is and then look up what a safe temp. is for that laptop on there website or some other site and just check back and forth to the control panel for the temperature.

um it will get hot if it is overheating :/

I personally use a program called "Speedfan" to tell the temperatures of my computer. It tells you the temperatures of all the parts. If there's a flame next to a number, then you're in trouble. If the laptop does overheat, then you should buy an undermounted cooler, which is just a fan that you sit your laptop on top of, and in turn cools it.

Download software like Coretemp and/or Speedfan to monitor temperatures.

Your machine will shut itself down when it gets too hot. To help it buy a rack to put under it to get air under it, or even prop it up on a couple of books.
