Answer:
I am the owner of a computer company and we have had our bad experiences with just about every company that creates computers, from desktops to laptops. Gateway tends to take the cake when it comes to poor support for their products, with Dell and others following close behind. If it were a toss up between the refurbished Gateway you described and gave specs for and spending an additional $150 to purchase a Toshiba I would have to say go with the Toshiba and I will explain why. We purchased several Gateway computers brand new at Best Buy. Right from the start there were problems, such as the keyboard keys sticking or some panels around the keyboard sticking up, speakers not working, battery not charging, the list goes on. I contacted Gateway for each repair, with one being sent in 6 times for repairs (which if my company had built a computer that needed to go back 6 times we would have simply replaced the computer) and each time it was a battle to get them to do anything they were supposed to do. Regardless of their warranty, their customer service and technical support (which is quite a loose term for those we dealt with) was simply a nightmare. Additionally, when a specific model computer is put out as a refurbished system, there has to have been a defect in that model that would require an entire model to be be sent in, repaired and shipped out as a refurbished unit, which would leave me a lit
