How do I get out of safe mode?

How do I reboot in Safe Mode? Also, any other ways on how to get rid of the virus?

  • I'm trying to reboot my computer in safe mode so that I can access the System Recovery thing. A virus or something is preventing me from using any programs on my computer(And I mean anything, Paint, Microsoft word, I can't even adjust the volume!) If I open a program (For example, I'll try to open up an MMO game I have downloaded on my computer) It'll open up to a "File Download Warning" window, that gives me 3 options: Run, Save or Cancel. Clicking Run does nothing, it just sends me back to the same exact file download window. Save just saves it into wherever I save it to, and if I access the saved file it does nothing and sends me back to the same window, and cancel just cancels. I cannot access any of the run dll 32 stuff either, the important things, which is why I'm trying to reboot my computer in safe mode so I can access the system recovery, because this file download warning thing is preventing me from accessing the system window in control panel. NOTHING will work, except Internet Explorer. Anything I'll try to use will send me to that File Download Warning window. I have a Windows XP Laptop, and I don't think i have the service pack 3. We bought it new and I do not know if my mother has the CD Other people have told me to reboot the computer in safe mode, and do a system recovery(which is what I'm about to try), and others have told me to completely reformat my computer. Any other suggestions?
