Should I get a laptop of computer?

  • Hi, tomorrow I am going shopping with my dad to get a pc/laptop but I don't know what. At the moment I have a laptop that tends to stay on my desk but that could be down to the fact that theres no webcam and the batteries awful so if I didn't have these problems perhaps I would benefit more from a laptop than with a pc. I mainly use it for: Surfing the net Gaming (sims) Music (lots) School work (gcse course work) And there for I NEED a big memory. You've heard the stuff I need so what would you advise me? Laptop or computer? And any specific make?? Thanks x

    If you do not plan on moving it anywhere, a desktop would be pretty good. They play games better and are more customizable. You can periodically upgrade a desktop. With a laptop, you can't really upgrade anything. And you need a a laptop close to the $1000s to play most games. A cheaper desktop can play much more games. If you don't need mobility, get a desktop.

Hi there; that would depend more on your use. If you need to be portable (take the laptop to school) then get a laptop. If you don't then I recommend a desktop beacuse it is more easily upgradable than a laptop. unless the laptop is highend, you would get better perforamance from the desktop. good Luck on whatever you choose.

When you compare spec, PC's are a cheaper choice, and if you are ever going to play more than the awesome sims, a pc with a decent graphics card and processor may be the way to go. However, if you are just sticking with what you use it for now, and you like the idea of being able to take it downstairs/to a friends house etc.. then stick with a laptop (Y)

I'm was in the same position as you, so I got a PC (still have a laptop). A PC is the best bet as you can upgrade the graphics card easily so when a new Sims game comes out, you will still be able to play it without having to buy a new computer. Also, desktops tend to be better value for money i.e. more RAM, more memory. Buy a computer that has at least 4GB of RAM and at least 500GB hard drive, and for gaming try to get a graphics card with 1GB dedicated memory minimum.

Unless you are taking it away from the desk get a desktop, it will provide superior speed for less cost and can be upgraded easily in the future. Most laptops are very limited in their upgrades. You will need to spend lots of money for a gaming laptop too. :) x
