IPad or Mac Mini? HELP?

  • Hi, I was needing some help deciding on what to purchase. First off, I am 14 and I buy the stuff I want with my own money so I want to get the best value out of my purchase. I already have the latest Macbook Air but I feel that the gaming is not what I really want it to be (for minecraft and such). So I was wondering if I should get the iPad 3 or the Mac Mini. If I got an iPad then I could take it to school and read on it or play games, but if I get a Mac Mini then I can play Minecraft anf other fun games without my Macbook Air overheating. So which one should I get?

    If you really wanted the best value out of your purchase, you wouldn't be talking about any Apple products. EDIT: No, sorry, you just want Apple products because of the name. There are many better tablets than the iPad, and a lot of better computers than the Mini Mac. Sure, Apple products do have quality, but so do other items for lesser dollar amount. A mini Mac is around $800 dollars. It has a dual core i5 2.5 ghz CPU, 4gb of RAM, A 6630m GPU with a measly 256mb of VRAM, and a 500gb hard drive. Compare; I just built my brother a PC for $800, it has, a quad core i5 3.10ghz CPU, 8gb of RAM, a gtx560 GPU with a quality 1.2gb VRAM, and a 500gb hard drive. Now, you tell me, does it seem like Apple is still better quality???

-EDIT- ...I just realized that your name is Josh... awesome... Hey <Insert Name Here> :P, I totally disagree with the first answerer (if that is a word). I absolutely love apple products. I have many family members that have an iPad 1 and 2 and I have the Mac Mini 2.3GHz model. If you say that you already have a Macbook air but game gaming isn't possible, I would suggest the Mac Mini, 2.5GHz model because it comes with 512mb of VRAM. Now, you said that if you get the iPad, it would increase your portability in comparison to the Mac Mini; however, you already have the Macbook Air, which is equally portable and, in my opinion, will be better to take to school because you can have everything right there (for example iTunes and word processing). I think I may be all over the place here, but what I am getting at is that it really depends on how much you want to spend and what is more important to you. Price-wise, for the Mini, you are looking at $800 which about another $400-ish if you want warranty above the display, mouse, keyboard that you need. If you believe that gaming is more important, then I would suggest the Mac Mini for sure. You said "Minecraft and other fun games". Minecraft isn't too stressful on a PC however, depending on what "other fun games" is, I don't know for sure if you will get a lot of FPS out of the Mini. You want to get the best value out of your purchase? Avoid Apple products then. You're paying a premium just for the name brand. EDIT: Nope, you just want the name brand. There's no such thing as "quality" in a Mac. Saying that there's quality in a Mac is like saying that Rebecca Black is the best singer of all time, or FOX News is really news.

Don't get a Mac book mini. A iPad 3 is a tablet not a computer. MacBook air is a computer not a tablet. There's a diffrence. I'd say the MacBook air I never used a MacBook air because I'm into creating pcs
