How to create a virtual file on mac OS X?

Have 4GB USB, how to create live USB for Mac OS?

  • I have a 4GB USB, and I cannot find instructions on how to create a live USB for Mac OS. I know how to create live USB for Windows OS, but have failed to find instructions on how to do so for Mac OS. Live USB will help me connect to public Wi-FI without exposing my Mac to hackers.

  • Answer:

Some meanings that can help you: "USB" is a hole in the side of the computer. That is the "Universal Serial Bus". It is a place to plug in stuff, such as a mouse, keyboard, or low-performance HDD. Most non-techies mean "drive" when they say "USB". "Live Disc" might be what you mean. That is a CD or DVD with a nearly complete OS on it. Linux geeks love this. Mac users don't see the point, but theoretically you could burn your HDD image to a DVD and boot to it. Won't do anything to secure your Wi-Fi, though. Maybe you mean "RAM disk". To learn about RAM disk in OS X, see the link below. To secure your Wi-Fi connection, stop thinking about Live Disk, and start thinking about encryption. Use a router that was made in the past five years, and therefore can use WPA2. Set a WPA2 password, and you are done.
