How to configure a Dell Latitude C840 so it can play youtube videos?

I have a dell c840 laptop that i want to keep it for playing videos on youtube and sometimes from cd's. The problem is that i can't get it to work propely on youtube or from the cd(some movies whit avi format work), the videos are playing frame by frame.(sound is working fine). I've tried so far : OS : windows 2000/XP Browsers : firefox (new version and old version 3.6), opera, google chrome. Adobe Flash Player 9/10/11 (i've tried hardware acceleration and increasing local storage) Removed antivirus and others programs that might slow down the laptop Youtube settings : added to videos address &fmt=18, checked 'i have a slow connection', video quality set to low and let it load the video. Laptop specs : Cpu 1,8 GHz, RAM 256 MB, video card nvidia geforce4 440 Go 32 mb, Hdd 20 GB, and it has all drivers and have a good internet connection. I just want to make it play youtube videos so if anyone has a solution to this i will be really grateful Thanks .
