How to scan documents and put it in document folder?

Is it okay to save documents to a folder in my laptop's picture library?

  • I know this is probably a dumb question, but is there anything wrong with saving a document file to a folder in my laptop's picture library? My new laptop has a library section with 4 subcategories: documents, Music, pictures & Video. When i open the library, it shows an image of each folder (i have it set to show icons). If i save a document in a folder in the document library, it shows a generic image of a file- but when I save a document in a folder from the picture library, it actually shows a small image of the actual document. I started saving some documents to folders in the picture library, so i can condense things (for example, i have a folder for sewing, which i save patterns & pictures of the garment. Normally this would mean making two separate folders; one in the document library, and one in the picture library- so i deleted the document folder, and now I just put everything- pattern/document and photo- in one sewing folder, in the picture library). It's also much more convenient to see an actual screenshot of the document i'm looking for when I have a folder open, instead of just the generic image- I can find things faster. I use OpenOffice Writer for my documents- and I still have some files in my documents section, but for folders that contain documents and images, i put them in the picture library. My question is, is there any reason I shouldn't be doing this? I've never had a problem with it- and I can't think of any reason why it would matter, but I also do not know a lot about the way my laptops work- and I want to make sure that by doing this, i'm not using more memory, or altering something internal. Again- i know this is probably a really stupid question, but I would appreciate any thoughts on the matter. Thanks in advance-

  • Answer:

If you want the document to show as a picture file then save it to the picture library if you want to save a document as a read file for word or excel save it in documents. Picture files are usually larger than document files but this can and does vary. If it works for you then do it as it will not hurt any thing. " I use OpenOffice Writer for my documents- and I still have some files in my documents section, but for folders that contain documents and images, i put them in the picture library." it is OK to do it this way. I use Open Office and MS Office with no problems.
