Could the power supply to my house be whats breaking my laptop?
-
Ive had 4 laptops since January 2008. All have broken in the same way. Today im getting a new laptop, the 5th. I originally had a Dell Insipron and got another now im going onto my third Advent. Im baffled at how these laptops are breaking, usually within a week of being fixed. Usually the motherboard and memory are whats replaced. Could it be the power supply that's causing the problem. I keep it on a hard surface, I only charge it when its on and only use it for light internet browsing and haven't installed programs. Can anyone help?

Answer:
Blimey that is a serious run of bad luck... but yeah the power supply could well be 'blowing up' the motherboards. Make sure you have the right power cable plugged in (if its a DELL use a DELL adaptor etc. I would also suggest its plugged into an individual wall socket (not a 4 way extension cable etc).

Not really unless you are having surges... make sure that you have a surge protector. The laptop actually runs off of the battery... The power supply only charges the battery. The flat surface may be the problem, try getting a laptop cooling plate.... Something like this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=laptop+cooling+pad Thats all that I can figure... Maybe the place that you are using it is overheating... Make sure that you aren't using it on a bed, where the cloth can block the breathing holes... Yea, and get that surge protector... Other than that, i cant figure out what else may be causing that... its really odd. Like I say, i seriously doubt that its caused by the power supply, because its job is to charge the battery, not power the computer... It would only do that if you left the battery out. But use the power supply that came with the computer that you are using and don't mix them up.
