How long will the Duo Core 2 will stick around?

Is upgrading to a 2.93ghz core duo processor from a 2.8ghz core duo processor worth 200$?

  • I'm looking to buy a new laptop, and am in the process of customizing it. The processor i'm currently looking at is a 2.8ghz core duo processor, but for 200$ the next upgrade is a 2.93ghz core duo. Would this be worth it, because to go from a 2.4ghz core duo to a 2.8 its $250. Also, would it be better for me to buy a core quad if i dont do much multitasking, maybe just 2 apps. The core quad that i was looking at is a 2.0ghz, so would it be faster for me to get the 2.0ghz core quad or the 2.8ghz core duo?

  • Answer:

There is no need to waste money on something like that. you could just as easily overclock it, or ask your computer shop to do so. don't waste your money on something you dont need.

No matter how many cores you have, 2.0ghz will always be the processor speed. And I dont think its worth getting the 2.93ghz, especially at that price. Just get a 3+ghz processor.

Go with the 2.8ghz core duo. 2 Apps is not really Multitasking. .13GHz is nothing and would be a waste of $200
