My laptop won't shut off - it keeps saying the computer is shutting off.?
-
I have a laptop Acer and just recently I had to re-install whole Windows XP (the damaged system remained). My display is also damaged (something with the cables) and keeps suddenly turning white so I have to put my laptop into the sleep mode by pressing Fn+F4 and then I have to "wake it up" again to deal with it. The problem is that --now-- it blacks out my display, but then it doesn't do anything - it won't sleep. Also when I turn down my laptop by start - turn off your computer - turn off it logs off my user account but then there is only the blue windows display saying "shutting off". It goes on and on and won't shut off. I had to do the hard-shut-off by holding the turn on/off button. I had to do the same when my laptop won't enter the sleep mode too. How do I repair my problem?

Answer:
This is not your problem. This is the problem of your computer. You need to call a professional computer technician or take the same to a Service Centre. XP and Vistas have bugs and the problems persist. Better upgrade to Windows 7 to stop problems, as I feel that the laptop is already an old one.

First, you are risking totally destroying it by running it with damaged cables. Can take out the motherboard leaving you wit nothing. You don't say why you re-installed, if this was from a virus infection, re-installing is NOT the fix. And doing this without totally deleting the partitions and then creating a new one to load on leaves the infections on the drives. You should really have totally removed the damaged system whatever the reason. I suggest you back up all your files and start again. Do a full re-install and at the screen showing the partitions and install options, use the D option to delete all partitions, then the C option to create one to load on. But get the screen cables fixed.
