Should I buy a Solid State Disk?

Buying a better laptop but I want some options before I buy it?

• It's been a while since I bought a new laptop. I was thinking of going with the dell xps 15. Pretty powerful and a good size. The thing is I don't know much about the newer toshiba laptops. I have one right now but it's a few years old. How are dell xps laptops? And what other laptop would be a good laptop? I want options before I decide. I'd prefer a laptop with around a 15'' screen. I don't want to go much bigger because it gets bulky to me. I'm trying to go with an i7 processor and a fairly large hard drive. With at least 6 gb of RAM. Don't want/need a solid state hard drive either. I'd like to have some options of other brands. I like to look into things before I buy them.... The reasoning for the bigger hard drive is I install a dual boot with Ubuntu. I keep all of my songs/movies on an external hard drive but I like to have a good amount of disk space to work with on each operating system. It has basically everything I want in it with a good amount of savings if I just normally customized it. And don't recommend a mac. They're over priced for their specifications and it's harder to install a duel boot with Ubuntu. And I just can't stand apple and the cult that follows it. I could pay the same amount as this laptop costs for a mac and get a slower processor, less RAM, worse graphics card and a smaller hard drive. Basically when you buy a mac you buy a name and admission into the cult of mac.
