Why is there no sound coming from my laptop?

  • I just switched on my laptop the other day and there was no sound from the speakers. I plugged my headphones into the socket and they didn't work (nor does the mic). I re-installed the entire os and nothing worked. If you go into device manager it says it is working properly and when you make a sound on the system it thinks it is making a sound! Any ideas??! Taking this laptop down to pc world is not an option or it the last option as they charge £60 just to look at it! It is not under warrenty. It is running xp. Please help!!! Thanks! Noisyscanner

    okay can i have the model dtails of the laptop and i will send u the drive for ur laptop as it will be driver related so then u can install the drive i will send u a link to then it should be sorted

your sounds card might be fried! You need to get a new one. Im not sure of the price i hheard there cheap tough. Or you might need to reinstall teh drivers for the sound card.
