How to clear my headphone jack in my computer?

Why is my headphone jack so much more powerful than it was when I first got my computer?

  • My headphone jack has gotten to the point I have to nearly turn the volume off for it to be comfortable enough for me to listen to because it's just so loud. it's too loud for me to use my earphones anymore so I have to wear my headphones. and it doesn't sound distorted at all when it's turned up all the way.. it's just way too loud. to normally listen to. My laptop is 3 years old and it's a toshiba L305D. Is there a way to make my headphone jack quiet like it used to be?

  • Answer:

Spinach ... it made Popeye strong.

possibly a driver update? check your system volume. the volume mixers these days separate each aspect of sound on the computer. its no longer just up or down.

Go into your control panel and select the volume icon. There are additional volume settings in there that might have got moved around. Play around with that a bit and you should be good to go.

I do not think it automatically amplified as the electronics is standard. I personally think you some how adjusted the volume settings. This is what i recomend you to do. Press the windows key plus R. (windows + R) it will then pop a run window then type sndvol32.exe and press enter. it then pops up the sound card settings panel Lower slider no.2 and slightly play a song as you tweak up to the optimal sound level thats it.
