I wanna hook my laptop to tv is this possible?

I wanna know if this can be possible: I want to hook my laptop to a tv..but the tv doesnt have an s-video so im considering this: I have a dvd player(pioneer with s-video output) and the dvd player connects to the tv (as normal...3 pin output) anyways im thinking in 1st buyin the s-video cable and connect my laptop and dvdplayer to it...so the dvdplayer will reproduce it on the tv..(old tv) so...will this works? cuz i dont wanna spent money..on the cable..so i wanna first know if its posible..im saving for an elitebook 2730 hp tablet pc. and i dont wanna spent a penny until i buy this baby. i just wanna do this so i can do my running routine without getting bored at 5min...:D

My laptop is also a tv and radio. I have a little green box that I hook to it, then that goes to an antenna out side just like a tv. I can then watch local channels, or listen to local radio. Very nice picture too. I have separate amplified speakers so it will/can get loud.
