Why are netbooks so popular?

What Are Some Good Gaming Hard Drives For Netbooks?

  • Personally, I'm a netbook user at the moment. It's the only computer I can use for my own needs at the moment, and I'm saving for an actual Notebook later on down the line, but that will be a long time. But, I really enjoy gaming.. Like, a lot. I'm sure a lot of us do, and I'm a major PC gamer. I know Netbooks aren't the best for gaming, but hey, I try and make it work! Now, I know you can't replace the graphics cards in netbooks. And if you did, your system would fry. Literally. But, like most netbooks, the graphics are built right into the hard drive correct? My question is, what are some good hard drives like that that are good for gaming? That have SOMEWHAT of a good graphics card in there?

  • Answer:

Hey buddy hard drives and video cards are two different parts on a computer with different functions. You store your data inside your hard drives whereas video card is basically a memory provider for more graphic oriented works like video rendering, photo editing, gaming, movies, etc. majority of netbooks have onboard integrated video card e.g. vendor: intel which is good just for basic computing tasks like work processing, emailing, web browsing etc however there are few acer timelineX series 11.6 " netbooks that are almost 10 times better than other normal 250$ netbooks. http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-TimelineX-AS1830T-68U118-11-6-Inch/dp/B0042X8W0Q/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&qid=1329842349&sr=8-13

Hard drives do not contain the graphics, your processor does. And it's impossible to change the processor without having to rip out the entire motherboard. I'm sorry to say this but netbooks just aren't for gaming at all. They are best used for study stuff or for lightweight computing like web surfing, e-mail, MS Office etc. What I would reccomend is that you wait for a while and save up some money, then buy a serious gaming notebook like the Dell Alienware or the HP Envy or something. Hope this helps! :D

You said "...graphics are built right into the hard drive correct?" --- dead wrong. Missed by a mile. Besides, hard drives don't make games run faster. Faster hard drives may only help in loading the game to memory but once the game is in memory then your CPU and GPU come into play. Seriously, what games do you play on your netbook? Solitaire and Minesweeper? Oh by the way, you may change your hard drive to a 7200RPM one instead of a 5400RPM but they suck up more power so your battery charge will last shorter.

Justin , Graphics never depends upon the Hard Drive. It depend upon Graphics Card which is hard to be found in Net Books. Net Books usually have Graphics Chip Not good enough for heavy gaming. So i suggest you to have Note Book 1. Good Graphics Card (Nvidia , AMD). 2. RAM 4GB or 8GB DDR5 or DDR3 Atleast. 2. Not Necessary But Have SSD rather than HDD For Super Fast Data Transfer Some what helping in Heavy Gaming.

Netbooks are not designed for 3D games in general you might still be able to play old ones or something like Minecraft (depending on the RAM) but that's bout it. And no a HDD does not include a GPU.

You can play GTA vice city runs pretty good on Netbook, worms and many more like Max Payne and Max Payne 2.. But you won;t be able to play a nice 3d game on netbook.. :(
