Help with connecting to wi-fi?

Laptop not connecting to house wifi. Help!?

My laptop was broken for quite sometime until my frien re installed his vista windows, and then began to work again. The wifi is not connecting with my laptop fir some reason. Both my brothers laptop and my iPod touch connect to our wifi connection just fine. I thought it may have something to do with one time when I slightly dropped the laptop stepping out of my car. My friend who had fixed it before mentioned that it may be a loose connection inside the laptop? It worked fine just three days ago and then randomly stopped connecting since saturday. If anyone can please help me to figure out a solution or explain to me what the problem may be, please reply back to me!
Answer:

Try unplugging the router and the box connecting you to the cable/outside line, while rebooting your computer. This works for me every time...Hoefully it survived the fall intact.
