Would i be able to get the free upgrade to windows 7 with either of these 2 laptops?
-
Hey, my old laptop fried back in april so i'm finally doing research on another one. Since Vista sucks, i wanted to double check on whether or not i would be able to get the free upgrade to windows 7 with it. There are mainly 3 laptops that i am looking into. I would be using the laptop for gaming, and i would also need to be able to do stuff for school such as typing papers or making powerpoints and stuff, but i have the microsoft student. Here is the link to the Toshiba: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834114653 The HP: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834147995 And here are the specs for the Dell. SYSTEM COLOR Obsidian Black High Gloss Finish PROCESSOR Intel® Core™ 2 Duo P8600 (3MB cache/2.4GHz/1066Mhz FSB) OPERATING SYSTEM Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium Edition SP1, 64-bit OFFICE SOFTWARE Microsoft® Works 9 WARRANTY AND SERVICE 3 yr In-home Service after remote diagnosis + Complete Care HD DISPLAY Edge-to-Edge FHD Widescreen 15.6 inch WLED LCD (1920x1080) W/2.0 MP MEMORY 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1067MHz (2 Dimms) HARD DRIVE 500GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE 8X DVD+/- RW(DVD/CD read/write) Slot Load Drive VIDEO CARD ATI Mobility RADEON™ HD 4670 – 1GB WIRELESS CARDS Intel® 5100 WLAN Wireless-N (1x2) Half Mini Card SOUND OPTIONS High Definition Audio 2.0 BLUETOOTH Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module (2.1+EDR) Now, with those specs AND THE WARRANTY, the Dell is $1,303. The laptops i sent from www.newegg.com do not include the warranty price, so add $270 to the main price. I think that the price limit is 1200-1300 but i am not entirely sure. Personally, I lean towards the Dell but the Toshiba and HP have me a little bit curious. Question 1 - Would I be able to get the free upgrade to windows 7 if i bought the HP or Toshiba from newegg? Question 2 - What laptop should i try and get the most? Question 3 - What laptop should i NOT get?

Answer:
1) Since its not listing the free upgrade to Windows 7, i doubt you will get it free. 2) I say try to get the HP the most because it has better hardware than the Toshiba. 3) Both of them are fine but the HP is better than the toshiba.

The Toshiba page at Newegg does say it's eligible for the upgrade. You'd have to check at HP's website what their own upgrade policy is. I believe I've seen Toshiba indicate that all their laptops are eligible, too, for example, regardless of where they're purchased and regardless of if it's specifically indicated. HP might be doing something similar even if not stated at Newegg, but you'd need to confirm. Also confirm that the Dell thing would qualify -- not every single one of their models do. I think I'd personally be looking at the HP or perhaps the Dell. And for what it's worth, it does look like the HP unit WOULD qualify for upgrade according to HP's own site. Just double check everything they say if you go that route.
It looks to me as if only the toshiba laptop comes with a free upgrade to Win7 - download the pdf file to find out more - if you decide to buy the Toshiba, double check with newegg that this upgrade applies and is a firm offer on their part - also take a screenshot of the page and keep it safe.
the HP one is the best one,,,becouse of its great graphic card, its petty good for gaming, photoshop and alot of demanding apps,,,and its great for its price. i would try to get this one. TOSHIBA and DELL are petty similar,, DELL: bad costumer service, petty good quality brand, great updates. TOSHIBA: terrible costumer service, ok quallity brand, not much updates,GREAT speakers. HP: great costumer service, great quallity brand, ok updates. i would get the HP.but if yuo have to choose betwen TOSHIBA and DELL,i would go with the cheaper one.
