How do i connect to xbox live using my Vista Based laptop?

  • I have a laptop using windows vista home premium. I'm using a 3G Modem that plugs into the USB port on my laptop. I have an ethernet cable connected from my laptop to my xbox360. I am able to surf the net, no problems there. Whenever i test my xbox live connection it says IP address failed. I only have windows firewall on my laptop and i have allowed my dial-up 3Gmodem connection tho share it's connection but it still dosen't work. Can someone please give me a step by step guide to setting this up?? And the same applies when i try and connect through windows media center, the IP address fails.

    Do u have a modem to play xbox 360 online u need one cable connected to modem and from modem 1 cable connected to ur computer where all the settings n IP Address will be stored. the 2nd cable from modem 2 xbox console. Ok you should try using a static ip address and to find out your ip address when its connected: Go to start>In the start search, type in cmd Type in ipconfig Where it says IPv4 address, go to xbox network settings and go to assign static address. Type in the ip address and add 1 to the last digit. E.g. If the last digit is 4, you put 5. The subnet mask is the same as the one on your computer and the default gateway would be the same.
