Why cant my laptop find my router?

Why won't my laptop connect to the internet?

  • I have windows vista and a hp pavillion dv6000. it was working fine but as of a few days ago it no longer connects to the internet. My ipod touch and my other laptop both get the internet so i know its not the provider or the router. its cant be the wireless thing in the laptop because when i search for internet it can find a router it just cant receive the connection from it. No its not the lan thing no its not a firewall issue for i have checked. It may be because of updates because i had one message that popped up once a while ago saying my updates werent compatible with something but i didnt take it seriously because i dont update anything. therefore i dont believe that my system would require updates due to the fact that everything else on my pc is the same. Im just really frustrated and I would be greatful if someone could help.

  • Answer:

If you are sure it is not caused by the firewall than it probably is about the update thing. You should try if your notebook can connect to other wireless networks to make sure that your WLAN is OK. Sometimes it may see the connections but not be able connect them. You may also want to check again your routers settings. Maybe you somehow marked your computer in the ban list and it does not provide for you. It is a long shot but still not impossible. You can also check your internet browser settings. SSL's and stuff. If nothing works, you can always format =)
