My speakers have a problem.

Problem with laptop speakers?

  • I have a problem with my laptop speakers for my Sony Vaio AR520E. I downgraded my Vista to XP and the audio works fine. But when I plug in my headphones or desktop speakers, the sound emits from both the laptop and speakers. I want to just have it come from my headphones/desktop speakers. The Realtek drivers I downloaded only give me the optical output and I have to use the SigmaTel codec. On Vista, I had other Realtek options like rear output and such which I don't have for XP. I'm thinking about ripping my laptop speakers out, its really frustrating. :S

  • Answer:

Sounds like it is a driver problem. Go to the Sony or Realtek website and look for drivers for your sound card. If there are none, then go to the Device Manger to update or re-install your drivers (Right-click My Computer>Manage>Device Manager). Find the sound card there and right click on it and choose Properties. You will see that you can update or re-install the driver. Try those.
