Does apple store have opened items?

the other day i was in bestbuy and i saw a section of opened items that where returned.. an item was a macbook air that i want but somebody beat me too it...i know apple allows peeople to return items before a number of days. i been the apple store a few times but never notices opened items... do they sell returned items in the store or do i have to ask for it?

Any retail store generally repackages returned items, so even if it was returned, it will have been processed again, repackaged, and in the case of computers, returned to complete default settings. If a fault in the product was found it'll be retired, and not sold at all in the retail store. You won't be able to tell what's been returned, usually, and prices won't reflect it either.
